Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South Achieves Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Designation

Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South has been designated as a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit from the Texas Department of State Health Services, allowing families in the south Fort Worth area to receive specialized care closer to home.

Texas Health Huguley’s NICU is licensed for four beds with plans to increase to eight beds and is designed to provide care for infants needing specialty care who are born at 32 weeks gestation and up. The NICU is staffed with specialty trained RN’s, neonatal nurse practitioners and additional care is provided by neonatologists on the Texas Health Huguley medical staff as well as dedicated respiratory therapists.

“We are so excited to add new services surrounding our youngest population,” said Tammy Ellis, R.N., MSB, NEA-BC, FACHE Texas Health Huguley Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer. “We are so proud to be able to expand our services to meet the needs of babies needing more specialized care and serve their families in our community. It is a comfort for a new mom to have these services available close to home, so mothers and babies can be kept close to one another.”

This designation means families experience less disruption during an already stressful time as they can stay near their babies as they receive specialized care right at Texas Health Huguley.
