- Planning for the Big Day
-
When it’s time to have your baby, please remember to bring your ID, insurance card and baby car seat. Although we have everything you need for a comfortable stay, we encourage you to bring your own toiletries, clothes, comfort items and phone chargers. Upon arrival at the hospital, you can enter through the main entrance, which is open daily from 5 am to 9 pm. After hours, you can use the call box to the right of the main doors for access to labor and delivery. Patients can also arrive through the emergency department. Once inside, a team member will escort you to your floor. Please feel free to ask our team any questions you may have as you prepare for the big day!
- Birth Plans
-
Knowing what is recommended and planning for a baby’s birth is encouraged. Expectant parents will be asked and encouraged to share their wishes for their birth story and their baby’s care with their physician and RN. Please feel free to click here to download and complete a birth plan to share and discuss with your physician and bring it to Labor and Delivery when it’s time to have your baby. Your delivery team will do everything possible to accommodate your wishes and requests. The expectant parents and the care team will discuss any required variations.
- Delivering Your Bundle of Joy
-
Your baby will be born in the comfort of one of our labor, delivery and recovery suites. Epidurals and anesthesia are available around the clock if you choose them.
Following delivery, you will have a private room for quiet recuperation and for sharing precious first moments with your newborn. We appreciate the important role of fathers, siblings and grandparents in the childbirth experience. And, because we believe strongly in the mother/baby bond, we request that each mother spend the first hour with her baby before allowing additional family or friends into the room.
As you recover, you’ll experience snuggle time from 1 to 3 pm each day, when the lights are turned down and interruptions to patients are very limited. This allows you and your baby to get some much needed rest or enjoy some quiet time getting to know each other.
- After You Go Home
-
- Your physician, nurse and/or navigation team can help you schedule follow-up appointments. Please note that appointment times are based on each patient’s individual needs.
- If you experience concerning health issues, call your physician immediately or visit the nearest emergency room.

- Every patient receives a Post-Partum and Newborn Care Guide, which provides comprehensive information about caring for both the mother and baby after discharge.
